In many parts of the world, it’s Thanksgiving (actually, in only two parts of the world it’s Thanksgiving!). Sometimes though, it’s hard to be grateful.
When a loved one is suffering, for example, it’s especially hard. We can appreciate having them in our life – but we know they’re still in pain.
How do you move beyond your own pain to be a pillar of strength for them? How can you get to a place where when they reach out to you, you are “there” and not lost in tormenting thoughts about their condition?
It’s a very difficult step to take, but one I myself took many years ago. In today’s episode, I read a listener email that talks about this subject and I share my story about an unorthodox process I used to move beyond the suffering to a stronger place.
