ego eckhart tolle empower othersThere are many spiritual teachers and personal growth gurus telling us to let go of our egos. However I’d like to offer an alternative: Build it up!

I don’t disagree that letting go of the ego is a fantastic state to aspire to, but I wanted to know what would happen if I nurtured my ego in a healthy way that best served me and others around me.

In this article (and podcast episode), I visit the ego and share how to build and evolve it so that it releases your fears, insecurities and anxieties.

Who knows? Maybe you just need to inflate your ego a bit to create the peace and ease you want in your life.

The Personal Emotional Challenges that Keep us From Business Success

depression anxiety happy successWhen I started The Overwhelmed Brain, I had no clue how I would be able to sustain it. But instead of concerning myself with an unknown future, I fearlessly purchased audio equipment and set my sights on the target of creating a weekly podcast that would spread my message.

About 6 months into the show, the reality that I would need an income to support it hit me hard. So, once again, I chose not to concern myself with a fear of an unknown future. Instead, I quit my job and started doing the show full time.

Having no money, I dug into savings to live off of for a while. And while exploring my options to make this show and everything associated with it more than just a hobby, I knew I had to make it into a living.

Pursuing a passion does involve creating a way to sustain that passion. In this episode, I am interviewed by Mike Sutton about the emotional aspects of running a business, and what it takes to get beyond the fears and doubts that almost everyone in business, whether their own or working for someone else, goes through.  [Read more…]

Achieving Fulfillment Through the 6 Human Needs

Do you love what you do? If not, do you feel significant doing it? How about growth and contribution? I talk about how I enjoy what I do because it fulfills all 6 of the human needs Anthony Robbins talks about.

When you can fulfill all of your human needs in your job, hobby, or relationship, you will have an incredibly fulfilling life.

Anthony Robbins talks about the 6 human needs. From his research and exploration of human behavior, he has come up with these needs that every person has in their life. They are Love and Connection, Certainty, Uncertainty or Variety, Significance, Growth, and Contribution. Tony says that we prioritize the ones we need most too. For example, someone might need more love and connection than variety. Someone else may need to feel significant more than the need to be a contributor. [Read more…]

The Law of Attraction and Critical Thinking

Do you believe that if you continuously send vibrations out into the universe, they will meet ‘like’ vibrations and attract those things into your life?

It doesn’t make sense to me when I hear people talk about the Law of Attraction like that, however I do believe that when you make a firm decision to make something happen in your life, you will put into motion whatever it takes to make that thing happen. [Read more…]
