Brene Brown said, “Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others.”

I remember making a business deal with a friend of mine. We went into it together knowing that we’d each have to play a part in developing, running, and sustaining the business. The business idea sounded very lucrative, and we were both excited to start going with it.

However, about a month into it, I got reservations. I almost felt sick every time we talked about it, to the point where I hoped it wouldn’t be brought up. But, this was a business arrangement that I agreed to – how could it possibly not be brought up?

Self-empowerment means you have no fear in making the decisions that are right for you.

It is having options when there appear to be none because you accept the consequences for decisions you wouldn’t normally make.

After I got married, I developed stomach issues. My stomach would burn after I ate anything with tomato sauce, onions, or garlic. So, pizza was killing me!

It’s amazing the little things we get upset about. Any one of us could be standing in line at the grocery store and it could be moving along fine. Then, the person ahead of you pulls out all their coupons and delays our progress.

Then, they pull out an out-of-state check which prompts the cashier to call the manager over to verify it.

And while this is happening, we’re getting less and less patient. Then we might think to ourselves, “How much longer is this going to take?”

We might get angry or even resentful towards them or even ourselves for getting into the wrong line in the first place.

The email was anonymous so I had no information on her whatsoever. In fact, she made sure to conceal anything that identified her, probably so I wouldn’t just pick up the phone and call 911.

But I wouldn’t have done that anyway. Of course, she didn’t know that.

In fact, her letter to me was, in her words, a “last-ditch effort”.
