I don’t disagree that letting go of the ego is a fantastic state to aspire to, but I wanted to know what would happen if I nurtured my ego in a healthy way that best served me and others around me.

In this article (and podcast episode), I visit the ego and share how to build and evolve it so that it releases your fears, insecurities and anxieties.

Who knows? Maybe you just need to inflate your ego a bit to create the peace and ease you want in your life.

Sometimes the End of a Relationship is the Beginning of a New Challenge

couples marriage counseling new relationship therapy counselingRelationships end, unfortunately. But sometimes what you think is the hardest part (the breakup) turns out to be tame compared to what follows. Your ex may not want it to end so they do things that make you uncomfortable. The Personal Emotional Challenges that Keep us From Business Success

depression anxiety happy successWhen I started The Overwhelmed Brain, I had no clue how I would be able to sustain it. But instead of concerning myself with an unknown future, I fearlessly purchased audio equipment and set my sights on the target of creating a weekly podcast that would spread my message.

About 6 months into the show, the reality that I would need an income to support it hit me hard. So, once again, I chose not to concern myself with a fear of an unknown future. Instead, I quit my job and started doing the show full time.

Having no money, I dug into savings to live off of for a while. And while exploring my options to make this show and everything associated with it more than just a hobby, I knew I had to make it into a living.

Pursuing a passion does involve creating a way to sustain that passion. In this episode, I am interviewed by Mike Sutton about the emotional aspects of running a business, and what it takes to get beyond the fears and doubts that almost everyone in business, whether their own or working for someone else, goes through.  [Read more…]

After I met my girlfriend, I took a long drive from New Hampshire to Georgia, where she lived. I stayed for a month then drove back home. Fortunately, I timed my drive so that when I return I’d miss a major snow storm.

On the way home, I stopped at a rest area to take a break. While sitting in my truck, I saw this old red sedan pull up. The driver had his head stretched forward over his steering wheel peering into my truck trying to make eye contact with me.

My first thought was to lock my doors. I thought, “Is this guy going to rob me?”

Reducing Negative Self-Talk

stress overwhelm anxiety depression If the voices in your head are saying anything but positive messages to you, then this is the show for you.

Negative inner dialogue can prevent you from almost everything you want to do in life. So many opportunities will be missed, all because you listened to a voice that is likely misleading you to believing you are something less than you are.

It’s time to switch around those inner voices so that they support you, and maybe even make you laugh. [Read more…]
