If you have ever dealt with body image issues, this is an important episode that addresses the subject of someone who lost over 100 pounds and learned that people treated her much differently afterward,

This is a special episode of The Overwhelmed Brain where I introduce you to an amazing podcast called A Slight Change of Plans. I’m going to play you a segment from one of their episodes that I believe has a powerful life lesson for all of us.

The deepest recesses of our subconscious mind are where our repressed, negative thoughts and emotions linger, causing harm to both our daily thought processes and our body.

If you want to know why affirmations or positive thinking doesn’t seem to work for you, it’s probably because you’re holding on to some deeper stuff that needs to be released.

Every time I’ve tried to drink soda in the past (after I quit soft drinks), I got an instant headache. This was a blessing when I was getting off my soft drink addiction because it made the cravings a lot easier to reject.

Have you ever listened to a motivational speaker and decided that you were going to make huge changes in your life – then a couple of days after the seminar, you lost all your motivation?

This has happened to me at least three times in my life. It took me several years to realize that motivation is a great short-term solution but a terrible long-term strategy.

What’s the fire underneath that needs to be burning in order for you to follow through with the huge changes you want to make in your life? In segment one of this episode, I talk about motivation and what it takes to really start creating change in your life. (Hint: It’s not about attending more motivational seminars).
