Measuring Your Worth and Esteem – Jealous and Insecure in the Relationship
October 9, 2016

Self-esteem stems from the level of self-worth you have about yourself. How do you raise either or both so that you can walk through life confidently and assert yourself when needed?

There’s “street knowledge” then there’s book (academic) knowledge. Street Knowledge is having real-world experience. Book knowledge is when you know what to do but don’t necessarily know how to do it, or have the courage to do it.

In the Ask Paul segment, I read a letter from a jealous husband who doesn’t like it when other people look at his wife. He can’t figure out how to get past these feelings.

Insecurities abound in this segment so it’s a great segue from the last one. There’s a little bit of ego involved, a leap of faith, and a lot of trust that may need to be built up in order to allow the jealousy to go away.

I received an email from a woman I’ll call “Jenny.” Jenny is in quite an unempowering situation, being married to a man who simply doesn’t care about her. He makes decisions without her, dismisses her, disrespects her, basically does anything he wants, and also expects her to do what he wants.

Jenny is in an unhappy marriage.

She reached out to me to thank me for helping her and many others. I was grateful to get her message.

Stop Justifying Your Poisonous Beliefs – The Curse of Denial

How many times in your life has something happened that was so hard to believe, that it actually hurt to believe it? You know what I mean… it’s that truth you don’t want to hear.

It’s like the people who can’t believe the holocaust happened because it was just so atrocious. Or, like the email I got from a woman who found out her husband is cheating on her.

It’s very hard to accept a truth that hurts us, but if we don’t, we systematically destroy ourselves.

Denial is the topic for the day.

More Motivation and Less Anxiety by Building a Healthy Ego

ego eckhart tolle empower others

There are many spiritual teachers and personal growth gurus telling us to let go of our egos. However I’d like to offer an alternative: Build it up!

I don’t disagree that letting go of the ego is a fantastic state to aspire to, but I wanted to know what would happen if I nurtured my ego in a healthy way that best served me and others around me.

In this article (and podcast episode), I visit the ego and share how to build and evolve it so that it releases your fears, insecurities and anxieties.

Who knows? Maybe you just need to inflate your ego a bit to create the peace and ease you want in your life.
